Are You Ready for a Raw Vegan Diet?
One of them most interesting new diets to hit the market these days, is a raw food vegan diet. It’s definitely not for everyone, and in fact is considered a bit extreme. Even still, I always find it interesting to read about them. It can be a little tricky to follow, I’m going to do my best to explain it a little. Basically if your a meat lover this is not for you. There are no animal products whatsoever in this diet. That includes things like eggs, fish, and dairy. To give you a sense of just how extreme this diet is, even foods produced by animal labor such as honey created by bees is restricted. They can even take it as far as suggesting that going totally vegan means not wearing any animal skins, leathers or furs.
A regular vegan diet should not be confused with a raw vegan diet. The primary difference being that the raw diet never heats food over 40°C. Apparently, that’s what makes food no longer raw anymore and can compromise the ingredients. Raw food generally means living food. That can be stretch to even include seeds as though the considered somewhat still alive. Given a bit of water and dirt will start to sprout and grow again.
There are quite a number of health benefits to be associated with raw foods. Not to mention preparation time is pretty easy. If you think about it, you don’t even really hae much use for a kitchen, kitchen utensils and appliances that come with it. Everything your eating is almost as if you founded in nature.
Eating a raw vegan diet, does make it harder to get certain nutrients. So, it’s quite often important to supplement your diet with bottled vitamins and minerals. As with any major shift in diet, it’s often a good idea to consult with your physician before proceeding.
